I know I created the new blog for my SL photography, so those that subscribe and don’t care to see it, don’t have to weed through posts for what you’re interested in, although things have been rough and I haven’t posted much anyway. So, I’m posting a couple of links over to SL digital Photoshoot posts that I’m really proud of. I’ve become too sick to let my creativity work through my products, so I’m learning to use it in the photoshoots instead. I hope you don’t mind having a post that is a little different. Stay safe in this ever-changing time!

My First Blogger Box
As I mentioned before, I’ve been using Second Life photography as a creative outlet as part of my recommended PTSD therapy. I am slowly getting better with editing, staging shoots, and uploading to Flickr. It actually had a secondary benefit recently! One of my favorite pose designers, ~X.T.C PoSes~, sent me a blogger’s box of poses they’ll be selling at The Chapter Four event in SL tomorrow, March 4th, for the ten days that it is open. It included a whole set of female poses, the Sweet as Candy set, and one couples pose, Peaceful Silence. It was totally unexpected and incredibly exciting, so I rushed out into the Grid to get creative. After a ton of pictures, I finally picked ones taken at our recently renovated home/landscape and Backdrop City, and dragged Luke into most of them to make little scenes. I’m really proud of my first “professional” set of SL pictures and my editing, so I decided to blog them instead of just adding to Flickr. If you’re on SL, I’d definitely recommended checking out the company and consider joining the group. Their bento poses work with very little adjustment, even with Bre in a Maitreya body and Luke in Signature’s Gianni. If you’d like to look at the photostream, please check out my Flickr at https://www.flickr.com/gp/124931994@N02/pqbZ6A. And yes, I have been in a bit of a Boho vibe and am totally obsessed with my Celtic and Elven combo body tattoo I bought at an event recently. *laugh*
The above were all taken at home. They are poses 3, 5, 4, 1, and 2, respectively. (Note, the 4th pose has two hand positions and this is the first, and is also my favorite shot out of these *smile*.)
These were taken at Backdrop City and thankfully I could drag Luke along to up the ante of the sweet poses. They are poses 5, 3, and a second take on pose 3, respectively.
This is the couples pose, Peaceful Silence, that we took at home. Note that they are poseballs, so it was super easy to move them into place over the lounger, so the limbs could hang over. I wasn’t so sure how to set the scene for this one, so I titled it as requesting at least a five minute massage please. *laugh* The exhausted look to the pose seemed to call for the dark windlight and filter.
All in all I had an absolute blast and was so honored to get to do this, especially when it’s so therapeutic for me, as well. It’s also a huge bonus to save money from buying more poses, so I can spend it on props for setting some scenes. It’s a way cheaper version of retail therapy and we all know I can use whatever therapy I can get right now. *cracking up* I hope you enjoy seeing some of my recent creative efforts and wish you a wonderful week! 🙂
Former California Girl Hit the SL Beaches
“I been all around this great big world
And I seen all kinds of girls
Yeah, but I couldn’t wait to get back in the states
Back to the cutest girls in the world” © The Beach Boys
One of my favorite blogs has been using some lyrics and song names lately for their posts, and since I love Oldies and had the ocean on my mind, The Beach Boys seemed like a perfect way to follow in their footprints. In the last round of pics from my pre-surgery beach photo shoots you’ll find them a little sexier than I usually go for. First off, I was testing some new technology that hit the grid that totally tickled me that I discussed earlier – the water reactive tee. Well, I also found the Sandra hair by Mina that was made in collaboration with Salt & Pepper, who did the tee, and decided to try them out. It was during the tee shoot I learned about the clashing between applied clothing and the new wet technology, but I tried to keep it pretty modest, while showing off how brilliant the designer’s creativity is. If I say so myself I think a couple could work in a pixel version of SI™. *grin* So, let’s show off this former Californian avi’s beach bod off! (And if you follow me on Flickr, then hopefully you don’t mind the repeat viewing, since I’m finally getting things caught up and the timing is all sorts of wonky right now. *laugh*)
So, I honestly just walked her right to the ocean floor and then came up to pose, to show off the reactive nature of the new Mina hair. With time, or a handy little blow dryer packed with the hair, the hair dries into a beautiful style you can wear anytime. **As of 6/24/18 Mina sent out an updated HUD so that you can manipulate the hair even more, such as keeping it wet, etc.**
I decided to wander in the waves for a bit, along the coast of one of the Destination Guide’s beaches, and tried out some poses I found in my inventory. Whoa! I think these would make Tyra Banks proud of my avi, even. *laugh*
Now, the following are a little more daring than I would normally show on here, but after the glitching, I figured the distance, poses, and the medium dryness of the shirt would keep these acceptable. I kept the pictures that show that the shirt goes to a really neat translucence with little spots of discoloration, as little places start to dry. When I added the hair dryer for the Mina hair I discovered it also sped up the drying time on the shirt, so yet another multi use item. Money well spent! And although you can’t see in these shots unless you enlarge them, the hair and the shirt cause little water droplets to drip, too, while wet.
Seriously, I am always amazed at the creativity and ingenuity of people in SL. This amazing mind is someone’s neighbor that they just give a head nod to if they happen to see one another, probably, yet in world they are so brilliant. It it makes the world a little more interesting to think about the strangers behind these avatars that do such creative things and you might sit next to them tomorrow on the bus, wait in line behind them for coffee, or whatever. It adds just a little more magic to life. Hopefully you enjoyed my beach adventures and take a moment to appreciate the possibilities around you today. That elbow that bumps you and the person that apologizes could be that of a wildly creative person! They could be lost in ideas of how to add more magic to other lives. That idea helps me be a little more patient and forgiving. 🙂
Evening Beach Retreat
Before my surgery I had a lot of fun hitting the beaches and on one of my adventures Luke tagged along, so I convinced him to try out some poses with me and think they came out so neat. They’re evening shots, so I warn you, they’re a bit dark, but it kind of adds to the beauty, to me. Not much story behind them, other than just having some fun goofing around with poses and the beautiful stormy beach at Gale Retreat. I am having trouble picking between day shots from the other beach photo shoots, so here’s just some cute pictures to hopefully make you smile and remember a special moment you treasure from your own beach adventures.
I’m Getting More Techy
Well, I finally did it. I uploaded SL pictures to my Flickr account. Although I started it years ago, so I could look at vendor posts and lately SL photographer pictures, I decided that it was silly that I have a ton of SL pics in my computer that I don’t share. I know only a small portion of you are following for the SL side of my life, and I absolutely love sharing it, but wanted to give you the option to check out the tons of pics I don’t post on my blog.
So, look to the right and see my dandy little new Flickr widget! *grin* I didn’t know if more than two would be distracting and bog down users, but I thought that was more reasonable. If it sits on a bloody Harley Quinn picture if I did a single picture, that might disturb some people. *laugh* I am disturbed, but try to limit showing it on here except for the occasional slip ups.
I’m super excited to be uploading pictures to albums in Flickr and finding another outlet for my creativity. I’ve really gotten into SL photography lately, although I have a lot to learn. It’s been really enjoyable during a time when I’m restless and have little interests in my usual activities. Anyway, if you haven’t noticed it and are interested, there are around a hundred loaded so far with a lot more to come soon, once I dig them out of my archives. *grin* I hope you enjoy and have a wonderful day!
