What do you think of the following picture to use for marketing instead of the picture of my bottle just standing on the shelf? I’m trying to revamp all of my pics and really liked this one. I think I like showing how it’s reduced to just a drop at a time and how glossy the oil is. Any thoughts?

Worms in Dirt Coming Soon

We ended up at Cabela’s since we were near KC (anywhere in the region and Larry will say “since we’re in the area”) and we spent about half an hour looking through tons of plastic worms and similar stuff. I’m too tired to do my happy dance, but can cheerfully tell you that I found two options there to try. I totally broke my own rule of not opening products until they’re paid for (several years at the Walmart Service Desk and doing defective/ruined item tickets make me a little tense when shopping lol). I felt both versions and they’re not treated, don’t have any unexpected smells – they’re lures so they have some funk of plastic, and they look so neat to me. I’ll soak them anyway in a plain water bath and then in a weak EO bath just for my peace of mind. I’m not sure what the second one will be named, but they were too cute to pass up. I can’t believe how realistic the worms look. They’re going to look wicked in the soaps. *big grin* I can’t wait!! I’m posting pictures of the packages and will post more interesting ones once I start working on the projects. Booyah!

The Incredible, Non-edible Reducers

I am so excited that I couldn’t wait for Larry to come home and help me take a better picture, so I apologize now for the one-handed camera skills. *grin* Tonight was the perfect time to test out the 1 oz orifice reducers in a bottle of massage oil since I want super smooth skin for my doctor’s appointment tomorrow (hey, I am a girl, so I want to be my very best when in a gown and not worried about my legs looking dry lol). Anyway, it took a bit of work to add it to a full bottle of oil without one of my notoriously messy mishaps, but holy smokes was it worth it!! I’m not making it an option for customers – it will go in every oil I sell now! It is incredible! I was literally holding it almost upside down in one hand when I took the picture and one drop had trickled onto my hand. *happy dance* I can’t believe how amazing a tiny piece of plastic can be. Lol. I use the oils a whole lot and it never really bothered me that I had to be careful to not have too much come out at once, but now that I’ve rolled around in those grassy fields on the other side, I know that the grass truly is greener on the other side. *grin* Success!!

Photo Op Idea

In one of my happy dazes I suddenly had the mental image of a girl with an overly dramatic “scared face” spritzing Monsters Away Spray on some odd looking made up monster. I don’t usually go for shtick, but I can’t get that picture out of my head and I think that would be a lot more interesting than a picture of the bottle. I mean, a plain Jane bottle doesn’t really make you wonder what is being sold or really draw you in. Maybe I need to make the pics promoting my products more interesting and creative, instead of just giving the goods. What do you think? I’m not sure on the age for the child in the pic, plus it depends on if any moms are cool with their child being a model (unnamed for privacy of course). I think younger might be better, since they’re the ones the spray is for, plus most of the younger ones are more willing to ham it up and overact the expressions. *grin* If I do the pic should it be some weird, oddly constructed, monster or should it be them spraying under the bed, into the closet, or something else that represents the scary stuff lurking in the dark? Even if I never use the pic(s) for the business, the idea sure makes me grin, so it’s staying in my idea brainstorming app as a happy thought. As always, any input is greatly appreciated!! Well, even more than usual, since really I’m asking for opinions in case I’m still a little too off kilter for normal thinking. *grin* Hmmm, first time I ever tried implying that I’m normal. Maybe I should check with the voices to get their thoughts too. I’m not so sure they’ll be happy with my fibbing about being normal at some point. 😉

Sweet, Spicy, and Sexy

I’m really glad that you can’t see me when I’m writing posts.  Pajamas aside, I still sit and fiddle with each item like a kid with their new toy.  *grin*  I think I may have to see an addiction specialist at some point, since I huff FOs like a coke addict.  *cracking up*  This really has to be the last batch of new scents I buy because I am honestly out of space.  I have filled an entire shelf on my massive business stand.  I’ll never use all of these before they expire and that’s a lot of money sitting on one shelf!  I’m glad that I snuck these in before making that rule for myself.

One of my cats knocked over the bottle of Hot Stuff FO, so I’ve had 24 hours of it on my hands, always with me, blocking all other smells.  As horrible as that could be, it’s kind of like I’m draped all over some hot guy that spent some time making himself smell good before I came over to watch some movies.  (I miss those days sometimes.  Someone actually made an effort to rock my world then.  *grin*  I enjoy the freedom of a PJ filled existence, but when I try to go the extra mile, then I really want those sweet and sexy moments of dating that we took for granted.)  Back to our regularly scheduled program…this FO is so freaking sexy that it actually beats Edward’s Kiss.  I know, I’m shocked too!  *sassy wink*  There’s peppercorn, deep and heavy amber, a touch of cinnamon that you don’t often catch unless you’re really huffing (*looks out the window with an innocent look*), and the wholesaler lists a note of cashmere.  I admit that I have no idea what cashmere is suppose to smell like or really what it adds, but it sounds great.  Lol.  I would swear that there’s leather in it, but it may just be the amber.  I dabbed it on my dryer sheet and the laundry smells all sexy now.  *grin*

Oooh La La FO is the chocolate covered strawberries scent I told you about when I ordered it.  I’m not totally sold on this one, so I think I will make some soap and let them sit a few days, then see how it smells.  It’s really not much better than the version I came up with, which is rather disappointing.  It has that bottled, plastic flatness that I try to avoid.  I hope that the chocolate develops some richer notes as it sets in the products.  *crossing fingers*

Lastly I got Sugar & Spice FO.  I’m not really sure which, but this FO reminds me of another one.  It’s annoying the tarnation out of me that I can’t put my finger on it, but that’s life, right?  *smile*  It makes me think of the gourmet cotton candy that I’ve seen on Food Network (i.e. the food porn channel).  Overly sweet sugary goodness with a hint of spices.  The wholesaler lists coriander and cardamom, but my official description is spicy yumminess.  Lol.  It’s a fun scent, but not the ooey gooey umptiousness of the usual baking FOs that I gravitate to when I want a food scent.  There’s a slight impression of bright perfume, but that may change after it’s mixed into product bases.

Overall I’m glad that I didn’t rush into these for Valentine’s Day, but I’m really happy with two of them.  The other is an opportunity to play mad scientist, I figure.  *grin*  For now I’ll enjoy sniffing the sugar and spice from one hand and the wanna-jump-him sexiness on the other.  😉

My latest goodies

My flash sale goodies were delivered and I tell you that an outsider would have thought it was my birthday the way I oohed and aahed over the stuff. *grin* Larry was rather grumpy about lugging the huge box in, but that’s what a man’s there for, right? *teasing wink* I was able to restock some of the boring ingredients, but there were a few really fun items that I can’t wait to share.

First off, I must confess that as anti-girly as I can be, I love the color pink. Lol. I love almost all shades of it and in a few weeks we’re going to paint my walker hot pink. It’s sad and pathetic, isn’t it? *grin* Anyway, it’s rather hard to get a bright shade of pink in soap when you’re using regular dyes. Due to the incredible price I was able to afford to splurge on the wholesaler’s featured neon pink powdered dye. They say it won’t bleed or fade. Woohoo!

The picture isn’t so great, but they had the orifice reducers in stock and I’m so excited to try it. (My phone’s camera is not focusing so well today *pout*) I didn’t twist the reducer in, since supposedly they won’t come back out, plus this helps you see how it works. It was a facepalming moment, but I admit that I hadn’t figured out how they’d stay in without having to change lids or get other attachments.

Orifice Reducers

Orifice Reducers

I’ve been looking forward to making the cocoa massage melts that I mentioned awhile back and decided to make it a lot easier on myself by getting beeswax in granules. I have a brick of beeswax, I admit, but I read that these are easier to measure and melt, so being the ingredient hoarder that I am, I ordered some to try. *grin* Sorry about the stripe of packaging in the picture, but the camera couldn’t focus on the beeswax, so I needed to help it focus. Aren’t they just so cute?

I have mixed feelings on the goldfish and small cello bags. Basically the goldfish will be embedded in “water” soap in the bag, then the bag gets a twist tie, just like when you win a fish at the fair. First off, the bags are way smaller than I thought. (Remember my previous confession – measurements and dimensions are totally lost on me. Lol.)I was concerned about how expensive the soaps would be because I thought there would be a lot of soap for the water, so being small will really help with that, but I’m not totally sure they will be big enough to actually remind people of the fair prizes. Second, the goldfish are not only pretty small, but those eyes are kind of creepy. *grin* Is it just me or do they seem like they’re bulging? It reminds me of that horrible golfish out of water commercial about asthma attacks that always made me want to put the tv in the water. (Hey, I never said all of my thoughts and compulsions made sense to anyone else!)

Next I get to discuss the new FOs. *rubbing hands together with glee*
